How to Choose a Talk Title for Your Nutrition Practice
Updated October 2026
You've been invited to speak, or you want to host your own webinar, and now you need a title. It's harder than it sounds. A topic like "healthy eating" or "digestive health" is too broad to make anyone feel like the talk is for them.
In this short video, Sunny Brigham, MBA, MS, CNS, LDN, walks through how to choose a talk title that tells your ideal client exactly who the talk is for and what they'll get out of it.
Start with Your Niche When Picking a Nutrition Talk Title
A clear niche makes this much easier, for everything in your business but especially when selecting a nutrition talk title. Just like the copy on your website, your talk title needs to appeal to the specific person you want to reach. Broad titles don't draw much interest. Specific ones do, whether your goal is more exposure or a few discovery calls. If you've been invited to speak to someone else's audience, start with their niche instead.
Pick One Specific Problem
From your niche, move to one specific problem or symptom your audience has. "Digestive health" is a huge topic. Constipation, bloating, or acid reflux is something a person can recognize in themselves. The details and connection are in that specificity.
Use the Inverted Pyramid
Sunny describes it as an inverted pyramid:
Top: who you're speaking to
Middle: one specific problem they have
Bottom: the outcome you're promising
For example, if you work with postmenopausal women and want to talk about constipation, "Digestive Health for Women" is too vague. "A Two-Step Plan to Relieve Constipation After Menopause" names the audience, the problem, and what they'll get.
The same approach works for other niches. For someone with type 2 diabetes, "Balancing Blood Sugar" is broad. "Can You Eat Fruit with Type 2 Diabetes?" speaks to a question many people have.
Use This For Your Marketing Too
The same thinking applies to your website copy, emails, and social posts. If you want to go deeper, see our post on how to find keywords for your copy, and read Creating Talks for the Community for what to do once you have your title.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a good title for a health talk? A good title names who it's for, the specific problem it addresses, and what the audience will walk away with.
Why don't broad talk titles work? They don't tell people how the talk will help them, so they're easy to skip.
How do I choose a topic if I've been invited to speak to another group? Start with that group's niche, then choose one specific problem their audience has and build the title around it.
Should I use the same approach for webinars and in-person talks? Yes. The title's job is the same in both: help the right person recognize the talk is for them.
